Michael Torres – President & CEO

Michael’s expertise is in designing elegant solutions to complex problems. Shortly after 9-11, Mr. Torres was invited to support the US, UK and Australian governments in designing solutions and system architectures to address complex problems – later becoming an advisor to Interpol on International Data Sharing.

The world changed after 9-11 and many of the systems in place were no longer relevant to the new task at hand. Prior to 9-11, many governmental systems and agencies operated in silos, similar to the way our communities operate today. Homes are in one place, water in another, food somewhere far away, energy somewhere else, etc. Michael’s strengths lie in identifying the use patterns of these disparate systems then bringing them together into a fully integrated solution architecture whereby the whole is greater than the sum of its parts Michael has applied these same skills and vision in creating the Integrated Solution Architecture for Sustainable Communities™, Community Assessment Methodology™ and  a Pay-It-Forward model. In this model, up to 30% of GreenWorld Restoration profits are contributed to GreenWorld Restoration Foundation with 80% of those funds going back into the communities from which they were generated to support sustainability.

Prior to GreenWorld, Michael was the Founder and Executive Vice President for CSIdentity, a company focused on Consumer Identity Protection. He grew it to profitability within three years of start-up, generating a market value in excess of $140 million on only $2.5M in investment capital. Prior to CSIdentity, Michael was Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Business Development at Infoglide Software Corporation where he grew sales by more than 1,893 percent from 2001 to 2004, ranking Infoglide No. 67 on the 2004 INC. 500 list.

Michael earned his BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University.

 

Geoffrey Connor – General Counsel

Geoff served as Texas Secretary of State 2003-2005. Previously he served as Deputy Secretary of State, Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture, General Counsel of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and as a senior aide to former Governor William P. Clements, Jr.

As Texas Secretary of State, Geoff was the chief international business and chief protocol officer for the state. He led trade missions and other official trips to France, China, Japan, Taiwan, Ethiopia, Mexico, Vietnam and Brazil. Geoff was part of official political assessment missions in El Salvador and Nicaragua, and has been an official election observer in Liberia, Georgia and Ukraine. Geoff is a frequent speaker at legal, economic development and international conferences.

In the private sector, Geoff worked for the international law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, and later for the law firm Jackson Walker. In both firms Geoff represented a variety of clients in administrative, energy, environmental, immigration and international law matters. Geoff also worked as a defense researcher for the British House of Lords before law school, and was selected by the British Government for their Networking Europe Programme in 1998.

Geoff serves on the advisory boards of the Asia Society and Global Austin. He is president of the Chancellors Council of the Texas State University System, and a past director of the Texas Lyceum. Geoff was Patrons Chairman for the Houston Consular Corps Ball honoring Russia in 2006, and received the International Service Award from that organization in 2007. Geoff is a member of the Austin Council on Foreign Affairs. Geoff was a founding director of Trinity Center, an Episcopal charity for the homeless in Austin, and was also a founding director of Warm Heart International, an Episcopal charity providing relief in Malawi.

Geoff received a BA in International Studies, with a concentration in European Affairs from Texas State University in 1985. He received a JD from the University of Texas Law School in 1988. Geoff has been board-certified in Administrative Law since 1995. In May 2012, Geoff completed a 12 hour graduate certificate program in Advanced International Affairs at Texas A&M University. Geoff is also currently a graduate student at University of Texas working towards a PhD in History.

 

Warren Taylor – Corporate Controller

As Corporate Controller, Warren Taylor is spearheading all operational reporting and review of corporate portfolio and developing standard processes for cost to complete reporting and forecasting.  During his tenure, Warren has provided CFO and Controller level support to several start-ups and established companies.

Prior to working with GreenWorld, Warren served as Vice President/Controller of DMX, Inc., where he oversaw due diligence reporting for multiple merger and sales efforts.  He has been credited with implementing more efficient customer payment automation resulting in significant company savings.  Additionally his account auditing efforts resulted in a reduction of monthly close time by 13 days.  As Chief Financial Officer at Clearshot Capital Partners, Warren managed all treasury, human resources and risk management functions completing forensic accounting reviews of company portfolio to reconcile construction contract variances and identify costs that could be recaptured through the change order process.  As Corporate Controller at AMFM, Inc (Capstar, SFX Broadcasting) Warren is credited with preparing multiple public offerings; the initial IPO of Capstar Broadcasting Corporation for $531 million and preferred stock and high-yield debt in excess of $1 billion.  Throughout his career, he has been able to positively impact departmental functions through restructuring efforts .  Additionally, Warren has led financial diligence related to the divestiture of under performing portfolio holdings, prepared financial projections and managed purchase accounting for over 40 acquisitions, some in excess of $2.1 billion.

Warren’s experience in forensic accounting and development of risk management and reporting processes will help GreenWorld to further streamline operations and continue to progress as a profitable entity.

Dr. Patrick Hayes – Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Dr. Patrick Hayes will focus on furthering scientific and technological developments thereby strengthening GreenWorld’s position as an innovative company.  Dr. Hayes, in his former endeavors, has taken on responsibility in a number of key leadership roles including product planning, marketing and development.  Dr. Hayes continues to foster research and innovation into new environmental and energy solutions while in China at WTF Asia International, Ltd. including patented solutions for infrastructure support for off-the-grid areas where there exists little to no waste water and gray water options, limited utilities and sewer lines.  Having received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Devonshire, and a Doctorate in Humanities from Asia Pacific University, Dr. Hayes has demonstrated a keen ability to analyze life’s everyday problems and create viable solutions.  At an early age he excelled in the study of chemical analysis, electronics and the theory of networking.  By the age of 19, Dr. Hayes received an apprenticeship at UCLA Network Research Center under a DOD program, titled ARPANET, which later was renamed the Internet.  Between the ages of 23 and 50, Dr. Hayes authored many publications including “Universal Quantum Dynamics”, The Universal Oversight to Hydrogen Use Technologies”, “Natural Solutions to Manmade Disasters” and “Recycle2Renew”.   Dr. Hayes is a strong advocate for change through use of emerging technology and environmental soundness and is the inventor or co-inventor of 8 granted and pending patents as well several publications, trademarks and copyrights.

Among his core competencies include a profound knowledge of economic, technological, experimental and practical development in the field of environmental management, sewage treatment, industrial waste control and other areas of environmental concern.  He possesses the ability to work effectively in a position of high visibility regarding controversial issues of worldwide importance and assimilate, evaluate and facilitate the necessary actions to meet environmental concerns, needs of various communities and local and State agencies.

As the newest member of our research and development team, Dr. Hayes will lead all research and investigation into waste-to-energy projects, water filtration and purification projects and reduction of negative environmental impacts.

John Holtke – Director of Operations and Supply Chain

John Holtke is a Marine Corp veteran with over 20 years of operations and logistics management experience.  While in the Corps, John received practical and formal training in Information Technology, Electronics and Advanced Communications.  John brings an eclectic blend of experience in supply chain management, logistics, Information Technology, business management, corporate level procurement and facilities management. His experience includes refinement of corporate level procurement, logistics, inventory management and facilities management processes for companies such as Helzberg Diamonds, Samuels Jewelers and Barton Medical Corporation.

In his prior engagements, Holtke managed all facets of manufacturing, quality control, engineering and supply chain scheduling improving product delivery, daily operations and increasing sales.  Additionally, his experience in analytical intelligence aligns itself with GreenWorld’s goal to overcome obstacles commonly associated with rapid response delivery of post-disaster relief.

John is a recent graduate of Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Management.  This coupled with his extensive experience with various manufacturing companies makes him a very integral part of the team.

 

Rick Tappan – Director of Manufacturing

As Director of Manufacturing, Rick is responsible for standardized manufacturing processes, procedures and operations. Rick has been in the manufacturing industry for over 27 years. Rick’s background includes residential and commercial construction, manufacturing for store fixture case goods and POP displays, educational and childhood furniture, custom high-end kitchen cabinetry and architectural millwork. Rick’s focus is on mechanized manufacturing, process flow, product development and growth management.

Prior to working with GreenWorld Restoration LLC, Rick worked with local builders such as Sierra Classic Homes, Anderson Jenkins, Idlewood Homes, New Coast Homes and Millis Development. Over 300 residential and commercial projects were completed over a six year period. Previous multi-million dollar accounts included The Bombay Co, San Francisco Music Box, Barnes and Noble, The Men’s Wearhouse, J.C. Penny, Shaw Carpets, Bruce Floors, and American Airlines. His expertise within the manufacturing environment resulted in dramatic growth; supporting sales of over 50 million dollars.

Rick specializes in the development of internal departments that support manufacturing that includes office administration, field crew organization & product installation, purchasing, inventory control, project management, engineering, freight logistics, human resources and safety administration. His direct manufacturing expertise involves, plant layout, machinery acquisition, continuous improvement events (CI), LEAN manufacturing principals, nested based manufacturing, process flow, scheduling, packaging and crating methods, quality assurance, product development, materials management, solvent and waterborne finishing, production standards and benchmarks, and team training.

 

Mark Daiber – Director of Concrete Products

Mark is responsible for concrete product development and operations. Mark Daiber has over 25 years of production and operations management experience in manufacturing, with a primary concentration in the building materials sector. Industries he has worked with include dimensional stone quarrying, explosives service in aggregate quarries, concrete batching and delivery, concrete paver manufacturing, and asphalt resurfacing. Mark’s key management areas include P&L and budget management, industrial plant operations, regulatory compliance, quality control, process improvement, project management, safety programs and team building.

At  New York Bituminous, Mark led the union pavement contractor through a 50% sales growth in one year by managing multiple crews throughout a seven state region. He set up production centers in remote, rural locations and recruited local labor and sub-contractors.

During his six years as Operations Manager at Oldcastle/Custom Crete, Mark gained ACI Grade 1 Field Testing Certification and became certified as a Concrete Professional Salesman through TACA/NRMCA.  He designed lightweight concrete mix designs and had fast setting designs approved by TXDOT.

Earlier in his career while General Manager of Aero Instrument Company, he secured NASA and university funds for new product design and development, utilizing computational fluid dynamics.  He authored and presented SAE and AIAA technical papers, and gained experience with DoD contracting.

Mark received his BS in Geology from the University of Michigan, and completed his graduate course work in geology from the University of Texas-Arlington.

 

Mike Shinn – Director of Business Development, Energy Sector

As Director of Business Development, Energy Sector, Mike is responsible for high level business development, business relations and sales to the Oil and Gas industry, which includes the upstream, and midstream sectors and Petrochemical companies.

Over the last thirty years, Mike has successfully developed strong relationships with executives in the oil and gas industry providing reliable solutions to their needs.  Mike has served in various roles as a liaison with project teams on numerous projects that include oil field drilling and production, oil terminal tank construction, pipeline installation projects and power plant development.  He has also identified and formed relationships with joint venture partners where various entities strengths’ could be merged to provide profitable solutions for clients.  Some of his prior employers include Hess Corporation, Entergy, Oiltanking and Pennzoil.

Mike also has over the last 30 years of working as an Advance Man for the White House under multiple administrations where he has worked with various governmental agencies on a global basis. Mike is also involved in many community organizations in The Woodlands and Montgomery County, Texas and enjoys spending time with his family.

Seth Cunningham – Director of Finance & Solution Engineering

As Director of Finance, Seth brings a diverse blend of finance, operations and engineering expertise to GreenWorld Restoration.  Prior to joining the team, Seth spent 11 years as a management consultant in the utility and infrastructure industry, addressing financial and operational challenges for a range of public sector entities and private companies.  His extensive experience in financial analysis, planning and forecasting; budget planning; cost accounting analyses; cost-benefit analyses; capital investment planning; valuation; operations & performance optimization will provide GreenWorld with a strategic advantage in planning for the future.

Prior to consulting, Seth was a mechanical design engineer at National Instruments (NI), a company that develops test & measurement and industrial automation products.  At NI Seth developed new products and maintained existing products as part of multi-disciplinary teams. He led all aspects of mechanical design, including all physical user-interfaces (i.e., the look and feel of the product), heat transfer & cooling, noise emissions, environmental survivability, manufacturability, and on-going product support. He also identified and selected contract manufacturers, including suppliers from both the United States and abroad.

Seth has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with honors from both.  Seth is also a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)

 

Robin Kamperman – Director Sales Operations

Robin is a leader in strategic development and client management. Prior to joining GreenWorld Robin was a Director at Austin Habitat for Humanity where she doubled revenue. Robin demonstrated exceptional skill in forging business relationships that resulted in strategic purchasing power and increased donor value. Her impeccable client management, customer relations, and strategic planning were paramount in raising public awareness of the Habitat for Humanity mission. As a District Manager for Michaels’ Stores, Inc Robin sourced and opened new sales markets in the Pacific Northwest. She consistently surpassed sales and profit quotas.

Robin’s ability to increase revenue by increasing sales, improving profit margins, evaluating operational expenses and setting team goals positions her as a great asset to the sales team at GreenWorld.  Her ability to revamp sales and marketing campaigns and hone in on the needs of the target market has proved invaluable.
